Eheim 2329 Wet And Dry Filter

hi all

got a used 2329 recently and instantly disliked the wet/dry function

i have read all i can find on this across the entire web
but still have a query

i have removed the float and blocked the air intake pipe and top bit of the breather bottle.

this had worked fine, i mean working as a normal filter.
but the filter is only 3/4 full all the time
is this normal? it could be pipe kinks?

this is fairly dumb but i dont have much experience with wet and dry filters.
i assume it works like any other in that the water comes in from the top
of the canister and is drawn through and pumped from the bottom, right?


also what is the best way to put midea in the three basket filter? (eheim ex)
