Hey guys and girls,

Technical question.

I have an Eheim 2080 that I'm losing patience with. I've had it for 5 years or so now, bought it 2nd hand. The primer doesn't work and the flow is low despite me doing absolutely everything possible to improve it - new pipes, clean filter, clean moulded pipes, remove kinks, clean impeller etc etc.

I was thinking I'd like to switch to an FX6 to take advantage of the extra flow rate, which would be good in my heavily stocked Malawi tank. Partly owing to the fact that the FX is like half the price of a new Eheim (or even a new Eheim head) too.

BUT....I'm worried. Here's why:

My Eheim has a 12L media capacity. The FX6 has like half that. How would I transfer my media, AND...will the FX6 even work well, or at all, with Eheim substrat and mech media?

I realise all my bio media etc won't be colonised, but surely I'd be destroying/disturbing?

Any insight appreciated. Thanks.
