I'm thinking about getting this filter for my juwel rio 400. I can get it for £180 new. Does anyone own this filter, is it any good?

nice filter but you would need 2 for that tank size if you only want to run 1 filter you would need the 2080 model
or a fluval fx5

i have it, it's a good filter , works efficiently and quietly. I run mine along side an fx5 on a 450-500 litre tank. Flow doesnt seem to compare with the fx5 so if i was to choose one go with the fx5

Sorry forgot to mention it will be running alongside the juwel internal filter.

I ordered it last night. £179.10. Can't believe the price I'm getting it for LOL. Was £269 reduced to £199 - 10% discount code that I was sent through email last week.

Did you say that the model was the pro 2078e ? From what I have read its a filter which is rated for a 700 ltr tank. I've been looking at them for far too long and it's time to buy one. I may be jumping the gun but to me it sounds like you have yourself a bargain. Could you let me know where your buying it from as im after the pro 2075 which was at £159 from charterhouse aquatics but I wouldn't mind what you have bought,

neither the FX5 nor the 2080, can give 5x turnover on this tank. you need 2000lph, or their a bout's. the Fx5 manages, around, 1800lph. the 2080, closer to 1400lph. however, from the only (proper) review of the two, whilst the FX5 flows more, the 2080 has better bio filtration! so "you takes your choice".
I would suggest 1x FX5 and 1x 2080. unless you can afford 2x 2080's.

whatever you do, junk the Juwel item. at the volumes we are looking at, its worse than useless. IMHO :hyper:

i like the juwel internals, ok - on there own they are not up to the job, but running alongside a external they are good, they need more maintenance than externals but the amount of gunk that collects in the sponges must mean they are doing good. IMHO
