Egypt - Sharm Snorkelling Pics

Wow Tigerissey sounds like you had a fab holiday...next time we go we will do Cairo and the valley of kings etc...we just wanted to chill out on the last holiday.

now Turkey I have been to many many times as well! Where are you going?

Nice pics, I do like any shots with the water surface included. Nice to see a free swiming moray especially in a house reef with all those clumsy humans around.

If your camera has a white balance setting, learn how to use it and those blue shots will be much better. I have a collection of blue'd out shots before I got another camera and learned how to use it and since then my pics have got much better.

If you are in Sharm, it's well worth taking a trip up the coast to Dahab to the Blue hole, the outside edge of that reef is truly spectacular.

I was using a disposable kodak undewaterv camera so point & shoot and hope! I have since invested in an underwater digital camera so hopefully my next lot of snorkelling pics will be loads better.

The pic is definatley of a sea snake...unfortunatley we did not see any starfish

We did that, was knackered by the time we got there though (jeep safari) and could not stay in the water long.

We did have an amazing holiday, I would recommend the tour to anyone.

We go to a little place called Calis Beach, by Fethiye, and stay at Aytur Hotel, which is right on the beachfront, we get the best room in the hotel and always book direct with the owners and just book a flight. We have been for the last 3 yrs on the trot (was naughty last year went away twice), and it was where Andrew and I went for our very first holiday together in 1998. We did Marmaris in 2004 as well. It is our old faithful holiday, we have lots of friends in Calis now, I walk up the seafront and people shout Tinaaaaaaa. We have met lots of English over there that have holiday homes too, always someone to have a drink with, the owners treat you really special too, last year we got there and there were bouganvillia flowers all over the bed with shapes made out of towels, waiters cannot do enough either.

One waiter keeps in touch with me, calls Andy his Abi (big brother), he always seeks us out when we are there, we take him some dairy milk chocolate too.

2 weeks on Saturday, I will be there, just need to get through the flight first though, if you have read the journal you will know why. Suppose I really ought to start sorting clothes and such out, its difficult on crutches though.

whoa these are impressive, i really want to go snorkeling / scuba diving one day when i can afford it!!

:fun:

Great pics! It's just a shame that all the coral has faded and bleached- a reason why we need to take care of our coral reefs!

There are 2 things I don't like about sharm; the tourist industry in your face constantly and the coral is very damaged although the amount of animals to see is good. If I went there again I probably wouldn't dive unless I found a dive centre which goes off the usual tourist beaten track, I have been spoiled though and been to some very good sites which are consistently in the top ten lists for diving so perhaps I am not keeping things in perspective.

I would highly recommend it! Oh and as I know you love Lion Fish Trod...I saw one that was blue & Red! and about 2ft in size!

I would reccomend phuket for diving for lion fish (highest concentration I have seen and I have been diving for 6 years), I would reccomend "Dive Asia" whom have an office in patong. Was actually quite a difficult dive due to the quantity of lion fish they were literally everywhere was hard to navigate all the potential spines loads of babies as well as larger specimenss, unfortunately I didn't write the site name in my log book.
