Right im really sorry for posting here, but because the other gouramis forum is soooo slow, i need help NOW, and these fish are very close relatives of the Betta. But i need your help. And they breed in the same way!

My honey gourami, has made a little bubble nest, and now im sure i see eggs in it!!

because the bubble nest now has yellow bits in it!

I never caught them embracing, because i needed to go to school. But im sure the eggs are there and the female is hiding around the edges of the tank, and i think the male is defending it, and putting more bubbles into the nest. I put a towel ontop the tank to keep the air warm, because i heard when the fry start to develop organs they need warm air.

Or i could just be imaging this. help!

Do i remove the Female/Male or what......HELP!

Sorry but i really need help now!

Do i keep the light on or what?

.......Do i turn the filter off, its a waterfall filter.

Will get pics

OK, one question should the light be left on? for the night so he can get any dropping eggs? Or is that not needed.

From you pic I can't see any eggs and, they will be white. Having said that I know gourami eggs are very small,Honey's will be even smaller, smaller than bettas.

What tank have got them in a comunity tank? If so, there's not alot you can do. You really need a tank for them to spawn in then remove the female after spawning, then the male after they are free swimming.

OK, one question should the light be left on? for the night so he can get any dropping eggs? Or is that not needed.

If you think there are eggs in the nest leave the light on, this will help the male see the falling eggs so he can put them back in the nest.

They are in their own breeding tank, i removed the female, as she being chased, the male won't move from under the cup, but he seems to be sucking the eggs into his mouth then blowing them out again? Or is he eating them?

If the eggs are there the seem to have a yellow tint.

Could they have spawned within about the 8-9 hours i was away?

thanks for the reply.

How long did it take for your two bettas to spawn and embrace?, ill be really gutted if i missed that!

Could he be eating the eggs? it looks really strange,

This morning the eggs had turned black, and now at 4 they've got little tails and are swimming around!!!

YAY!

Good for you Tortea! There will always be another time for you to observe them spawning.

If they are free swimming I would turn the filter off (if it's still running) and lower the water level to 4"-5." Cover the top with plastic wrap to keep the humidity in. All gourami fry are incredibly small so be prepared to feed them appropriately. I've gotten 3 spots (Trichogaster trichopterus) off to a good start with green water made from letting lettuce leaves steep in a jar of water in the sun.

I'll follow their progress on your other thread. Good luck to you!

Little question, I haven't done a waterchange for about 3/4days now, and i haven't had the filter running, Its a 25l tank, how would i do a water change without killing the fry?

You can use a length of airline tubing to slowly remove syphon out some of the water from the bottom. If you put the end in a pail of water and raise it above the level of the tank you can refill it the same way.
Take great care when feeding them so that you don't pollute the water and you will be able to go without doing water changes for a while. You don't want to knock these tiny fry around because they might not be able to make it up to the top again. :)
