So i just added a few plants, 3 panda cories and 4 madagascar rainbow fish to my 55 gallon, i will be upping their school to 8 soon i hope. But I was wondering if they already laid eegs? Just noticed a weird thing on my new grass plant here it is.

Sorry if its hard to see, but does anyone know who did it and how i can care for them?
Some blurry pics of the rainbows

the thing is i dont have any snails in the tank, just one assassin. And those eegs are bigger than the snails the assassin is in there for.

most likely snails, but could be the cories. the tetras and rainbows are egg scatters

just read up on the madagascars and it most likely is them as they deposit about 5-10 large eggs daily on thin plants. Looks like ima have fun fish to breed and maybe sell :p

They still look like snail eggs to me!

Anyway, get them out into a small tank with an airstone and you'll soon know for sure :) Good luck with them!

But i dont have any snails!!! Lol i strongly think its the rainbows, how could a snail large enough to deposit eegs of that size get up that dinky little blade of grass?

If there was only one snail, you might not have spotted it yet? And maybe it bent the leaf over while it was laying, but the leaf has sprung up again afterwards?

But you could be right; I've never seen Madagascan rainbow eggs before.

Anyway; you'll need a separate tank, with an airstone or sponge filter; a few drops of methylene blue as well, if you can get some. And source some small foods now so you have it once any fry are free swimming :)

I have the eegs in a 1 gallon clean pickle jar with an airstone, from what i read most are fertilized so methylene blue isnt required. Also that when the babies hatch their large enough to eat frozen brine shrimp and daphina. Im telling you guys it HIGHLY unlikely its snails, but if it is hey, some puffer fish culture early on.

It'll be exciting to find out, either way :)

Keep us updated!

My money's still on them being snail eggs but I'm more than happy to be proved wrong, let us know how they do

The reason we say snail eggs is you just bought the plants. Thats how I got a snail infestation in my tank, was through plants.

Another convinced they are snail eggs

, You may not have introduced snails by choice, most unintentional snail infestations come about by adding plants to the aquarium.

Okay, I think sawickib's had enough opinions now, lets wait and see what happens.
