Eep! Spots And Stripes?!

My female betta, Nira, has suddenly gained one LARGE spot going from one side of her (by the top) all the way down the other side to the bottom of her body. On the side with the ONE BIG STRIPE, on the back side, she has spots?! I'm a little worried. I just moved her to a smaller tank (From five to three) and this was after I may (sadly, probably have) put them next to each other.

I heard they get vertical stripes when they are ready to mate, but never one huge stripe and spots?

Photos would really help.
There are breeding stripes and stress stripes. Breeding stripes are vertical and stress stripes are horizontal. I've never seen a female with just one vertical stripe. I'd look closely at her environment and work out any possible stressors. When they're in breeding condition it's pretty unmistakeable. My girls always flared and showed off a lot when they were in breeding condition.

I have no idea what that was, but I believe she had ick on that area and she scratched it off.
