Hi Guys,

You were all really helpful before, if you dont mind i have a few more questions!

After all the good advice I got earlier i had to decide against the gorg fire eel that i saw, instead i have ordered 3 spiny eels.

I have just bought a new 160 litre tank for them. I am in the process of going through the fish less cycle, hoping to get the eels this weekend or the following week.

I am really struggling to get sillica sand, is it ok if i get small grain gravel that has been rounded off so no sharp edges?

Or is other types of sand ok? I have found coral sand and i think the other one was pewter sand?

I have bought mini frozen bloodworms, is that ok to start them on?

Sorry for all the questions!

I used argos play sand in a couple of my tanks it looks great, cheap as well :good:

Any home improvement store that sales cement, should also have #30 sand, which is very fine sand. Play sand is a little larger grain size, either one will work very well with eels.

When you say "spiny eels" what specific species are you talking about?

Hi,

Thanks for all the help so far!

Will hopefully get some sand this week for the tank then!

It should be the peacock eel, all going well. Although I did say to the supplier that I was happy with any of the smaller species of eel as long as they were social.

As much as i would love a fire eel they will just be too big for my tank!

Awesome! Peacocks are really neat, and Ive heard can do well in groups.. just make sure everyone gets enough food! Also, kudos for turning down the fire eel! I see many people now adays with huge fire eels in tiny tanks due to their thinking of "ill get a larger tank" and it doesn't happen. So kudos for saying no!

Hiya,

Yeah the peacocks do look fab! Can't wait to get them and get them settled!

Feeding should be fun for me as I hate touching worms etc, im such a wimp, thank god for long tweezers!

I wouldn't mind buying a large tank for a fire eel, however i dont have enough space for another huge tank. I have 2 turtles and i keep them in a specially made 5ft tank. Just not enough floor space for another, or that gorg fire eel i saw in the shop would be mine!

Ive read that the peacocks are best kept in groups so hoping they do well.

Will def need to post some pics one i get them and have them settled!
