Have set up a new tank which we transferred fish to last night. Have just realised we completely forgot to declorinate when filling it at the weekend.

Can I just pour it into the tank neat or should I syphon some water out and mix the declorinator with this before adding it back.

Can't believe I forgot something so simple

Thanks

don't panic, you can just put it into the tank neat. :good:

measure ammonia and nitrite over the next few days to make sure you haven't nuked your bacteria.

Thanks, am testing water twice daily anyway because have cloned tank anyway so worried about mini cycle

Keep a close eye on parameters Sneezy. If you managed to damage the bacteria on the clone, you may need to give it another jump start.

If you filled the tank at the weekend, the chlorine would have gassed off by now anyway so no harm to your fish unless, as oldman pointed out, you've done damage to your bacterial colony.

chloramine doesn't gas off though and can damage the bacteria colony so could still be sat there so i'd still throw some dechlor in. not all water supplys use chloramine but quite a few do.
