Hey everyone
Just a quick question does anyone know of any really good LFS in the east mids that sell good quality Bettas as sadly my dear VT "tutti fruity" has passed on.
I dont like the idea of buying a fish off the internet as i am not keen on buying a fish i havnt seen before many of the lfs that i go to have the usual varieties of betta but i want something a bit different.
Thank you in advance

They sometimes have good ones at maidenhead at trowell. I've seen metallic gold plakat for instance. Pricey though; about £22 I think. When they get a delivery, there's a good selection of VT actually.
Also MH@Dukeries occasionally have different stuff. If it's only VT you want and it will be in a tank on its own, I think P@H have a good selection.
It's one thing Wharf are no good for actually. Very drab selection usually. My latest came from there though, sort of cambodian colouring.
It would be great to have a really strong stockist instead of having to trawl all over hoping to get lucky [sigh]

East midlands equatics, i picked 6 females and a male up the other day he is beautiful mostly dark with white stripes along his tail.
There about £5-6 each and most are making nests at the moment, all look healthy.

Is that the one on nottingham road past burton joyce with the peacocks and the posh bloke that works there.
if it is yes they have good fighters but they are always in overpowered tanks or overcrowded with incombatible tank mates (seen one in with puffers once !!!)
thanks

The one with the peacock is the aquatic centre in bulcote, im talking about east midlands aquatics in trowell just down from maidenhead, if you search for the name it'll bring up a naff website but he's a hobbiest so he looks after all of his fish really well, he won't sell fish that have just come in and if any are having treatment he won't sell them. He has some good stock and breeds alot of his own stuff like shirmp, corys and rainbows, plus he also makes his own foods. Nice lad bought an awful lot off him and the only time i've seen something dead/dying is when a bad batch of angels came in.

theres some online auction sites, if you just use google its got ads of people selling their most prized fish because they no longer can look after em, put in you're post code and you bound to come up with some east midlands bettas

Well then guys and gals.
Went to maidenhead at trowell and they had some fantastic PK males and females but they were being kept together so decided to leave there before i got in trouble and opened my gob lol so i went round the corner to the aquatic centre and my has it changed since last time i went very good layout and some even better fish he had excellent crowntail bettas some of the best i have EVER seen and some huge females.
So yep i have a new betta will put pics up soon for you all to oggle at lol

I have been in east midlands aquatics before and thought it looked ok, but don't remember bettas. I have 2 at the moment and don't intend having any more, but I might have to pop in next time I'm 'passing' ;)
