Early Stock List

Scientific studies show the amazon river to have a salinity of 53 mg l-1, which is 53ppm. So my lightly salted tank is likely fine. thankyouverymuch.

53ppm is 1.004 specific gravity. That's what my tap water measures at: it's freshwater. Even if it was marine salt, that would still be under a pinch per litre.

Right lets get back onto the subject at hand, ie my tank ;)

I have had a good read up & will probably go for some kind of gourami rather than the cichlids.

Or maybe theis.

12 Cardinals

4 Cockatoos 1 male 3 female

Pair of Gouramis

6 Corys

Too much fish?

Looks good to me but what type of gourami are you wanting? The bigger ones can be quite boisterous. I would go for 3 honey gouramis 1 male, 2 females so the male doesnt harass them to much.

Arghhhhhhhh, now i want Ropefish

Ropefish get way to big. If you completely changed your stock you could go for a Senegal Bichir/Polypterus senegalus Which are fairly similar looking but only get 12"

Thinking of pearl gourami

Thinking of pearl gourami

I would go for a smaller type if im honest. Pearls can be a little pushy with other fish. If you went for honey gourami you could go for a small group maybe 1m 4f.

right, how does this sound, i think I may be pushing it with the tetras.

180 litre tank

Lots of Bogwood & plants

15 Cardinal Tetra

4 Cockatoos 1 male 3 female

Honey Gouramis 1 male 3 female

6 Corys

personally, i would leave the Gourami's and up the tetras, you can't beat a large school of cardinals. I'd up the Cards to 20.

Now that idea i like. Just been on the phone to my lfs. The bigun around the corner had never heard of Cockatoo Cichlids so i went further afield & found a nice little shop. They had Cockatoos, Bronze Corys & Cardinals. So with the numbers you propose that is £95 worth of fish in one hit.

Awsome.

I would like some shrimp as well. Would they cut down on the ampount of fish I can have?
