My wife and I decided that we needed to buy ourselves an early Christmas present, so we went down to the Dallas World Aquarium yesterday (pictures here) and bought two memberships! So that basically means we can go whenever we want for the next year. I work literally right across the street, so I'm planning on going a lot at lunch, to watch them feed the manatees, peacock bass, and arapaimas. We're very excited, and no one else I could tell would be as excited as us, so I figured I'd post here :)

Hi Flumpus :)

What an excellent idea! I'm sure you and your wife will enjoy it all through the year. :D

Sounds like a good place to go and have your lunch whilst the fish are being fed.

Might make you upset you can't keep the fish for yourselves though...

Well, my wife knows how much I like peacock bass, and she said until we get a house later this year, where we can get a bigger tank, this will have to do. So I can see them whenever I want, with none of the work :p

Very good idea
I may be going to visit that aquarium soon, is it any good?

We really enjoy it. There aren't many freshwater fish though. There's a tank with arowanas and sting rays, then a couple south american cichlid tanks. The salt water tanks are great. They've got one for different regions of the globe. There's also a shark tank and tunnel. One of the coolest tanks is the one with the arapaimas, manatees, peacock bass, red tail catfish, sting rays, and giant turtles. Everything in there is so huge, it's great to watch. What surprised us was the amount of non-fish related stuff they have. They've got lots of birds, a fair number of primates, even a couple jaguars. And of course they've got some reptiles, spiders, stuff like that too. And of course being in Texas, it's very nice that it's indoors, as it can get rather warm going to an outdoor zoo. I don't think you'd be disappointed :)
