I dno why the hell im doin this... But i jus wana tell you all that Dwarf Gouramis just could be my faverout fish...

Ive got 2 Pearls at the moment, And cant wait to get 2 Blue and 2 Red...

I just like theyre beahviour and personalities...

Has anybody got any suggestions on any other ones that have the same colour, personalities. e.t.c...(dwarf gouramis that is)

I'm a gourami lover as well. You have to be careful about putting new ones in with established ones. They can be a bit territorial and will attack the new guy. I has to return one dwarf for this reason. It's probably best to add all the gouramis at once so they can all adjust together.

Are there dwarf Pearl Gouramis? The regular Pearl Gouramis can get up to 5" each but they are supposed to be the mildest mannered of all the Gouramis.

I've got a pair - wonderful fish but my male is very shy. He's about 4 inch long but I think he's fully grown. Wonderful plummage ;)

I used to have four in one tank, but one was mugged by the others and died, and the third had to be rescued after being harrassed to the point of near starvation. She sadly died in my recent catastrophe, "The Great Heatwave Catastrophe".

Yes, I absolutely adore gouramis, too. Easily some of the most colourful fishes available to a tropical freshwater tank. However, I also have had problems when keeping multiple gouramis in one tank. Namely, my two opaline gouramis bullied every other gourami I ever introduced to death or removal. I would hesitate to introduce too many gouramis to anything but a very large tank. However, as someone else has said, pearls (and moonlights, I believe) are less aggressive than some others. Kissers and opalines tend to be a little nasty.

like nene said before ,i dont think their are dwarf pearls gouramis, i would be careful of introducing too many different gouramis, the pearls are one of the most peaceful of them all but they can get a bit rough if they dont like their tankmates, and that includes other gouramis, that said i have a pair of pearl gouramis  and they have been living with two dwarf golds quite happily in a large community.the golds are only young ones.what size tank do you have because they need plenty of room and hiding places if you keep more . :) pebbles

Hiya,

I got a pair of dwarf gouramis a few months ago, m and f. We chose the male because he was the brightest and liveliest in the tank, and bl**dy h*ll is he lively! He nipped away at the first female until she died, and has been pestering the second female pretty much nonstop too. He's claimed one corner of the tank for his own where the plants are most overgrown and he keeps trying to make a bubble nest which the female completely ignores! What can I say, he's obviously desperate for babies! Does anyone else have this problem?

Having said that they are beautiful though and I love having them in the tank. I hope it works out.
