Hiya all, I'm not entirely sure when this started, but one of my honey gourami has started being very lethargic (at least two days now) two nights ago I thought he had died as he had lost a lot of colour - basically appeared white, and was lying motionless on the sand... I went to scoop him out and he swam to the top and was gasping for air, now he's done this a fair few times since and he really doesn't look happy, although fins aren't clamped or anything. Tested water and all is fine, although I've done a 40% change anyway as it was due maintenance. I really don't want to euthanise him if there's any glimmer of hope, he's lasted this long right? Please tell me there's hope?

Summary:
Symptoms - lethargic, gasping for air, colour loss
Water perfect
Been two days ish and no change

Thanks in advance

What does "Water perfect" mean?  Do you have readings and if so what are they? Gourami's love real and floating plants are a must to my believe.

Ammonia, nitrite both zero, nitrate around 20 poss lower, hard to tell on test. Temp is steady at around 76f
I have real plants, also lots of wood.

Still no change for the poor guy today, thinking I may have to put him out of his misery soon :-( seems nobody has the answer :-(

All 4 of my Gourami's went the same way I'm afraid, started with being lethargic, hanging around the bottom (sometimes on their side) then the loss of colour, although mine where neon and darkened to the point of being grey/black.  The first 2 passed on before I had finished researching possible illnesses and I ended up euthanizing the other 2 as I just couldn't bare to watch them waste away like the others

It does sound very much like DGIV to me though, sorry.

Neon is Trichogaster Lalius, which is of infected with Irido virus. Honey is Colisa chuna and isn't often infected. Could be everything. I'd would help it also. Sorry !!!

Oh it is my tank, its just a pic from two rescapes ago as I couldn't be naffed to shrink a picture small enough. :D

He's still the same :( would it help to have pics of him/a video of his behaviour?

OK, but those aren't real plants, are they ??? Yeah place a pic or vid indeed.

well here he is, but unfortunately he didnt make it...

and now his buddy is looking a bit pale too
