Dwarf Gouramis

I have 2 dwarf gouramis,
1 guppy
4 panda catfish
2 swordtails
2 platys

When it's feeding time the gouramis go straight to the top, when I put the food in they eat it all leaving nothing for the other fish. This sounds so dumb but I'm worried that the other fish arnt getting any food, if I do put more in for the other fish, they will eat it and leave nothing once again! They are also becoming fat, i want the other fish to have some food! What can I do to stop them from starving the other fish and getting fat!

Also I wanted two kissing gouramis in my tank! Are they okay with my fish ??

What are you feeding them? All but the panda catfish (are they cories?) are top feeders, so sprinkling some floating food over the whole water surface should allow the other fish to get some.
If the panda catfish are cories they are bottom dwellers and should be fed on sinking meat/fish based pellets. If you soak those in a bit of tank water until they sink, then put them in the tank as far away from the other fish as possible, enough should reach the bottom for the cories.





And just as a comment, you have soft water fish (gouramis and cories) and hard water fish (guppy, platies and swordtails). Depending on how hard your water is, one or other group will not be happy.

yes i agree with what essjay said. your water hardness and fish dont match up, if you satisfy the needs of one species you will forfeit the well being of the other.

depending on how big your tank is try and feed in two different places at the same time, see what happens.

I put pellets in for the for the pandas, yes there Corys, I put flakes in for the other fish. The gouramis mostly eat them! That's strange when I went to my local fish store they said my water was soft and fine for any fish! I picked the ones that looked the best! They have been fine though! I've had them for 8-10 months! I do have a soft water tank! What fish could I get for my tank! I'm gonna take the livebearers back, they have been acting strange going upside down, lying on sides not moving fins! I wanted kissing gouramis are they good with my gouramis??

Kissing gourami are big fish, so unless your tank is at least 150 cm long x 45 cm wide, I would not get those.

We now know that you have soft water, but we also need to know how big your tank is before we can suggest other fish.

Also I'm keeping the dwarf gouramis, would they be good with the kissing gouramis?!
