This is my first case of dropsy, so it took me some time to recognise it, also because he is often at the top of the tank and not very visible.

Tank is 95 litres, 8 months old. You can see the population in my signature.
The rasboras are the latest additions but I noticed my gourami's swelling while the rasboras were still floating in the bag.
Ph is 6.8, water is fairly soft. Ammonia zero, nitrite zero, my nitrate test is with my discus tank, but the tank is heavily planted and I change 25 litres each week, so I doubt they are an issue.
Since Saturday he's been isolated in hard water, with a ph of 8, to help draw liquids out through osmosis.
On Monday I started a treatment with interpet anti internal bacteria.
He hasn't gotten any worse since being isolated (not expecting him to be better yet), but he's not eating.
... Mind you, a couple of live daphnia I dropped in there have disappeared...
How quickly do dwarf gouramis die of dropsy?
Is it normal for swelling to stop and then start again, or is it usually a continuous process?
... in brief, do I have a hope for my beloved gourami?
