Dwarf Gourami Breeding

So this is just a quick question as I already have all the ideal water parameters and am using a sponge filter and have actually had them spawn a few times already it's just for some reason they have done everything except the male hasn't built a bubble nest, is a bubble nest 100% necessary for a successful batch of fry and also any ideas why he has decided not to build a bubble nest. Like I said I have seen them spawn a few times (which is fascinating) but he just doesn't seem to want to build a bubble nest and I can't see any reason why.

Please give us the numbers for the water tests, as "ideal" might be far from ideal in some cases.

I am confused,dont gouramis need a bubble nest to spawn in to? How did they spawn already?
