dwarf cichlids

Hi, bought a pair of these today, and they seem to be avoiding each other like the plague.

Is this normal or is it because they haven;t established any dominance in a new tank yet?

What kind of dwarf cichlids are they?

And are they both the same sex?

ok, I thought there was only one kind of dwarf cichlid )

But I have a male and a female they are about 1.5 inches, the male is more vibrant with a orange tail fin (bit like a guppies) and a blackish stripe down his body. The female is less colourful and a little smaller.

Still not completely sure what you have. Do you have a pic?

The lfs said it was a double red banded dwarf cichlid. Does that make sense?
