USA,
after i did a water change in my fish tank last night, preparing to get the shell dwellers friday or saturday if thy still have any, there was a dust like substance on the walls of the tanks and the plants and filter. I have no idea what it is and why it came, i really want to get rid of it before the shellies come. I did raise the PH last night, if i raised it a bit much do you think that that caused it?

ph inceaser, and some rocks that my lfs said are good for africans, i think it was lyte rock. I have to pick up some more of the cichlid buffer and that stuff. I had it with my jewels, but used it all on them and didnt get more because i got rid of those evil little things.

It's entirely possible that the chemical aditives caused the cloudiness. I tried to reduce the ph in my community tank when I first set it up back in September. If you have a higher KH (buffering capacity ) the water water will become cloudy. (that is right off the back of the bottle of "Proper pH 7.0"). Those types of additives, ups or downs, can cause the water ot become cloudy.
