Not sure if I am just over reacting here or if something, maybe bacteria or fungus, has started to affect my tank. I purchased a Fire Gourami about 2 weeks ago to go along with the other in the tank and all has been well until a couple of days ago he stopped eating. Since then the fish has basically ballooned over the past to days and seems to be swollen. I took him out of tank to prevent anyone else getting sick and trying to treat him but just pulled out today. When I got home today I noticed one of my Angel fish seems very full or may have the same type of this happening to him. I did not notice anything this morning but there is a bump there now but he is swimming around just fine and eating plenty. Hopefully you see in the pics I took but I had to cut down the size considerably or just use Photobucket links. I do have some Macryn-Two but no hospital tank so would have to but in main and did not want to screw everything up all together. From searching site it looks like it could be Dropsy or water staying in fish or constipated??

Any idea of the cause or of a treatment??

Edit: As of right now there are no scales sticking out, just the bulge

Are scales sticking out.
What do you feed your fish.
The lump is it hard of soft like filled with fluid.
Epson salt baths to help draw the fluids out.
Once scales stick out organ failure and fish rarely make it once scales stick out.

No scales are sticking out and I have added salt. The fish I had pulled out I heard splashing around like he was trying to get out and then was floating sideways but breathing then just stopped moving and was dead. It was really weird and very sudden...the bump on him felt very hard but as I said he had not eaten in days and was losing his colors and he had been hiding at the top in the corner of the tank. Fed other fish today in main tank and all still seems well as they are all eating even though the Angel still has a large bulge on either side. Guess just wait it out?? Really wanted to make sure it was not something that could spread more than anything, Thanks again

Bless Him R.I.P.
If the lump was hard it could of been a tumour.
Is rare to have a nitrate reading of 0. What your tap nitrate reading and do you have live plants.

Dropsy doesnt spread, it is simply an individual who is suffering from organ failure so it doesnt dound like that, RIP.

Dropsy can spread if you don't issolate the sick fish, if they peck on the dead body it can spread that way.
