I posted last night but got no response. My dwarf gourami is slightly swollen and has dropsy. I am not sure what the underlying disease could be and i dont have epsom salt to reduce the swelling. I was thinking maybe trying methyln blue? Could someone please give me advice on what to do please?

If your fish is slightly swollen, rather than very swollen, it might not be dropsy.

Does it look like this?

If the scales aren't sticking out like in that link, then it probably isn't dropsy.

If it is dropsy, then there isn't a huge amount you can do - once whatever is wrong has got to the dropsy stage, 99 times out of 100, it's fatal.

My Betta had dropsy, and his scales didn't stick out until the day before he died, so sometimes the scales don't stick out right away. I'd tried everything for every disease I could find with swelling, except dropsy. He died the day after I realized it was dropsy.
