Hi folks,

Ive been looking for some large driftwood lately and finally fell on a nice piece i really liked for my Cichlid tank.

I drove over and picked it up tonight and was really pleased with it. The driftwood is still water lodged having not long been taken out the sellers tank so ive give it a wash down and put it in soak till im ready for it.

Just has i finished filling the tub with water i noticed something moving over the wood and with closer inspection i found around 7 or 8 woodlouse!o_O:hatchetchase::laser:

Ive removed the louse i could see and i gather any ive not seen will drown 😞 seller must of kept it in the shed for a night or so.

If i keep it in soak for a while longer will i it still be safe to use?🤞

Add a heap of salt to the container with the wood and let it soak for a week in salt water. Then drain the water and refill with fresh water. Replace fresh water every couple of days for a week and the wood should be good to go after that. Hose the wood off when you change the water.

Any salt is fine, be it cooking/ table salt, aquarium salt, rock salt or even sea salt. Rock salt/ swimming pool salt is the cheapest.

Add enough salt so it no longer dissolves and there is a layer of salt on the bottom of the container.

Thank you @Colin_T
