I had java moss before when I first started with this hobby, but it got all brown and moldy and it died so I had to get rid of it and I just found a little green soft piece of it attached to a shell. So I've put it today in a small plastic container with tank water in from my betta tank wondering if it'll grow.
It got me wondering if it'll grow at all?

It will grow...

I’m pretty sure java moss is just like any other moss. It will die when it’s not wet and it will grow when it is. Just note it may take a long while for it to get big. :)

Ok, I'm surprised to her it. I doubted the fact that it might grow but okay :)
I wouldn't mind it taking long but ferts would do any good or harm?
I keep it in a container just in case if my cherries or my betta (he's a veggie boi) would gobble it up.

Will you please upload a picture of it?

It all depends on how big it is, if you use fertilizers or not. If it is super small, I wouldn’t recommend because you might OD (Over Dose) it.

Just sorry for my betta there :p

Can you see the java moss bit on the shell?

Pretty betta!

No I can’t see it...

As I said above, if it is super small, just give it time and no fertilizers. :)

Pretty betta!
Thank you! He looks like candy... hence his name, though he is a two faced one lol.

Maybe closer photo would help? Sure, I'll give it time :) I think it would make a great hanging out place for my future kuhlis! :)

I can see it :) it might grow, but sometimes if moss has been dry for too long of an amount of time it may not... but it might!
