Hi everyone

Just a quick question..

I bought some Interpet No. 8 - Anti Fungus & Finrot on sat for my guppies which are now in the hospital tank.

I followed the doseage guidelines on the pack and gave them a dose on Saturday.

Trouble is, the instructions aren't that detailed and don't tell me when or how often I have to re-dose.

Any extra info would be great.

Thanks

hi i read the article melafake on this site and decided to make my own.
well what i did was i have an 87 gallon uk tank and i used 7.5 mil of essential tea tree oil put it in a bottle of some tank water give it a good shake and put the lot in my tank.
might have put a bit much in dont know, but my livingroom smelt lovely for days and my finrot cleared right up.
and the regeneration of the fins on my panda cory is to say the least remarkable.
7 days later i done my usual water change and have done so weekly since.
oil cost me £3.99 at local chemist think i could have got it cheaper elsewere if i had tried
i know i wont be paying through the nose for treatments anymore
and i could have made my treatment last longer but didnt want to loose my cory
incidently it was a new addition to my tank and i had already lost another that i bought with it my lfs is very rough when catching fish and the others in the shop tank had passed away that i had seen on a later visit so i think i done well to save one
these corys are growing on me to say the least.

hope this helps i for one cant see the tee trea messing with other treatments but i would hope someone more knowledgable than myself will post here also

With most meds I've used they say to redose every 48 hours and most call for at least 2 doses for effectiveness. However, use caution your med could be different and you could overdose your fish. Try calling the company if there is a number on the package.

I agree that the instructions on Interpet meds aren't very user friendly :)

If you read the little booklet that comes in the box, though, it says that AntiFungus and Fin Rot shouldn't be re-dosed within seven days and that you should do a 30% water change first. The single dose that you put in should remain active for several days.

Melafix/tea tree extract is great for mild cases of fin rot and for helping damaged fins heal. Congrats zedonepilot on curing your Panda cory - they can go downhill really fast.

For more serious infections though, something stronger is often needed. The Interpet med is active against columnaris as well as fungal infections and these can be very aggressive - killing fish really quickly without proper treatment. As I know to my cost
