Dont Buy Fluval U2 Filters. Design Fault

: i would advise any1 thinking of buying a fluval u2 filter,what a load of s.... ,every time you tutn it off, it wont start up again without lots of messing about, mine just wont wotk at all now, any suggestions for a good filter to buy for a 72l tank, that is quiet ish, and has a air setting, this is the 2nd fluval u2 in 3 monthss,

Yeah mine does this occasionally. Not that often though, other than that I think it's a great filter.

if it's only 3 months old, then I guess you still have the warranty?

it was a fantastic filter.than the bubbles slowed down,then the flow was hardlt there, even though i cleaned ever week, i loved this filter,but my lfs said they have a design fault with proppeler, ,im well p,,,,, off. its only 6 weeks old,i just looked at receipt.

if it's only 3 months old, then I guess you still have the warranty?

think Fluval do quite a lengthy warranty on their equipment, which is always a good thing.

I run the U3 on mine and have done for 2yrs. I can't fault it and don't have experience with anything else so can't help you there....

I would keep replacing under warranty until the warranty is up (give Hagen a hint that the U2 is flawed), the swap to an Eheim 2211, those are nice and take up less space in the tank (I recently picked one up for under £15 delivered, which is at least 21 years old and still works and looks as new).

thanks kitty kat, im gona see if they have that filter eheim 2211 in stock, as they will only give me a filter in stock, i will just have to see wat they got, as my tank has no filter, ineed 1 today, ill post later which filter i get today, thanks

I had this happen with mine, i thought i had bolloxed the filter during maintenence. Pulled the plug, stuck it back in, and it randomly started off again. Thought i was on my own....

Other than that however, i think its a brilliant little filter!
