My colleague at work here is asking about a "dolphin" shark he has bought. It is black and bluish in colour, has "feelers" out the front of its head and a shark like body. It is eating everything in his tank (like i told him it would) and i think it can grow up to about a foot in length.

From this really rubbish description is anybody able to tell "us" the proper name for it so "we" (i mean him) can find out more information on a fish that he should never have bought in the first place!!

Thank you very much

I guess maybe its an elephant nose fish from ur description?

No its not an elephant nose. We are trying to find a picture of it. But it is not the fish below

http://fins.actwin.com/fresh-pics/elephantnose.jpg

The fish has a solid, almost chunky body and feelers not really a nose as such. (feelers like a cats whiskers) Its head is round in shape aswell.

Thanks for the idea on that guess though.

Damn you guys are good. I am checking with him now.

It isn't the pictus as i have seen them before and it is almost solid grey but is of the same "style" but chunkier.

The paroon or iradescent sharks look good bets.

He has them in with a discus, a red belly oscar, gouramis, 3 angels, 2 plecs, some tetras (black skirts, neons) but in decreasing numbers. He has a Jewel bow fronted 3footer.

I know he is overstocked and breaking so many rules about his fish its unbelievable but he won't listen. He only got the discus because i was talking about my new set up that is coming to have them!! i'm hoping to rescue that from the other fish!!

Thanks for all your help.

*** He has shouted over that the pics are similiar but the dorsal fin is larger on his, if thats any help.

Cheers again

channel catfish?

Not sure what the channel catfish is. Have googled it but getting nowt.

Think it could be a columbian shark. does that sound right to anybody?? Would that munch smaller fish and grow fast?

Will it be ok with the discus and gouramis or are they in danger too?
