Hi!
I have a 30 gal (115 lt) and a 20 gal (75 lt)

At this point neither tank is stocked in a way I can really appreciate :/
Anyways, I'm planning on changing my stock around and I just wanted to bring it to the forum to ensure that I am not putting too much stock in either tank. :)

My 30 Gal:
(36l X 12w X 18h)
1 Filter(Similar to the Aqueon Quiteflow 30 (30-45 gal) Filter)
Full hood, plant supporting light included
24 inch Bubble wall
Plants include: Amazon Sword, Horn wart and plastic plants
3 Pieces of drift wood

Fish:
1 Female Pearl Gourami
2 Female Mollies
1 Female Guppy
1 BNP
4 Platy's (1m 4f)
5 Panda Cory's

I was hoping to sell the two female Mollies and move the guppy to my 20 gal.

For the 30 gal I was thinking I would like
2 Female Pearl Gourami
1 BNP
5 Panda Cory's
7-10 Zebra Danio OR 5-6 Barbs of some sort (Either Tiger or Gold Barbs)
I don't think theres room for 10 Danio's and 5 Barbs :/

For the 20 gal:
Unknown Dimensions
Full hood with plant supporting light,
1 Filter, handles up to 20 gal.
Plants in the tank include Amazon Sword and Horn Wart
1 Piece of drift wood in this tank
Fish:
1 Male Betta
3 Oto's

I was planning on re homing the Betta and keeping the Oto's
In this tank I was hoping something like:
1 (or 2) Dwarf Gourami (Because I can't think of any other center piece fish off the top of my head)
4 Platy's
1 Guppy
6-8 Small Schooling fish, Neon Tetra's perhaps
3 Oto's.

So as far as I can tell the 20 Gal could support that stock (But that's just my opinion, others may disagree)
I'm more concerned with if my 30 gal could support the stock I was hoping for.

Can I get advice on if my tanks could support the increase in population?
Also if there are any other fish that would be an interesting center piece fish for my 20 gal?

In effect it looks like you want to move most of the stock across to the smaller tank, so firstly i would (personally) move the bigger filter across to the smaller tank and invest in a slightly bigger one for your 115L (i use a Fluval 205 external for my 110L, but that is somewhat 'generous' for a tank my size and stocking) then stock accordingly.... i believe it would be plenty big enough for Five Banded Barbs, i have 7 of them ans they looks great! Maybe some RummyNose Tetra if it's a 'schooling' fish or sort you would consider... i would move your Ottos across to the 115L as well, and up your numbers to 6/7+... i would keep the Betta in the smaller tank and work around it, but only becaue i sincerely wish to do something similiar myself soon :good: ... but remember...there are alot of Livebearers potentially going into a smaller tank, that should be considered also.

Terry.

Get 3 more cories and a nice school of tetra or something along them lines and you'll be sweet :) and just 1 gourami for the 20g

Okay;
(I just bought the filter for the 115lt, so I don't want to move that, but I can upgrade the filter on the 75 lt, The filter I already have there can handle up to 20 gal, should I get one that handles 20-30 or go powerful and look for one that is equal in power to the one I currently have in my 30 gal? - I find the flow on the one in my 30 gal pretty powerful, so I'd have to really look and find one that has an adjustable flow setting as that filter in a 30 gal would in effect turn it into a washing machine .... :/ )

ANYWAYS:
According to your answers I have attempted to re-work my lists slightly...

115 lt:
Keep filter,
Add more plants
Note: If I move the Otto's over to my 115 lt I would move the Panda's over to the 75 lt just so there was a bottom feeder in it

Fish:
2 Female Pearl Gourami
5-7 Panda Cory (Alternately 7-8 Oto's)
1 BNP
7-10 Schooling fish (Danio's or some other fish) I have to work around what the local fish stores keep in stock
5-6 Barbs (Still debating on if that would over stock, I think I'll actually have to start putting fish in the tank before I can make up my own mind of if there's enough room)

As for the 75 tl
New, more powerful filter
1 Dwarf Gourami
4 Platy's
1 Guppy
7 or so Schooling fish
Either leave the Oto's and up their numbers or move the Cory's over here.

I would keep the Betta, but I don't have any room for him and he's a fish who likes to be the only swimmer in the tank. I don't know if my Oto's are extremely shy or he's a bully but I never see them, save in the morning when I first turn the light on. And fast swimming fish stress him out and he develops chronic fin rot.

That's just a quick redraw of what my stock could be, it will probably change as I move along and start changing things around to prepare for more fish.
I think my main concern was addressed, my tanks can support more fish (And the numbers I want/need :p) As far as adding all the fish I wanted to my 115 lt I think I'll add the schooling fish, see how it looks and then decide whether to get Barbs or if the tank looks good as it is.

I wouldn't put barbs in with the gourami - they'll nip it's fins. Any other tetra species apart from the sepae would be fine though.
