does anyone have any fish that are very sensetive and can even die or have a sort of heart attack
when you change or clean they tank.

just because i had a black fin shark who always had a shock when i cleaned his tank

Fair enough..

Why not phrase the Q a bit more spocifically? For example, 'Has anyone else had a Black Fin Shark that went into shock when you clean its tank?'

D

[It's nice to see you typing properly, by the way.]

no but my black fin shark is dead now and it happens to one of my silver shark but with the filter on it be back in write position again in 10mins

maybe your putting in cold water.. or putting in chlorinated water?? my newby guess lol

^^i also agree, are you dechlorinating water? or getting it to tank temperature? how much water are you changing? is it the same PH? there are SO many factors affecting this

i dont think theyre is any need for sarcastic remarks, if u are trying to be picky look at ur own writing it isnt perfect either a coupl things wrong with ur own, so please keep comments to urslf as this just stirs up trouble

It wasnt meant as a scarastic comment, it genuinely is, instead of HAVING CAPS ON ALL THE TIME, and slang. Didnt mean to offend him.

And I know mine isnt perfect, but it is easily legible.

Yeah my bala sharks always used to dart about when I did maintenance. My striolatus goes mad sometimes when Im putting new plants in and nearly jumps out.

Seeing as a number of people asked the young fella up top to please not use txt spk and such, I think Declan was actually being sincere and appreciating that xmurdererx was making an effort. :good:
(always nice when you make an effort and someone notices ;) )

Its normal for "sharks"( actually minnows). Its a mechanism they have, so if something chasses them in the wild, ect. and they freeze like that, they think its dead, and just keep swimming. But when you do water changes, you scare the hell out of them, and the freeze up. It will only last a minute or so, depends on how bad you scared them. Some die from it, but i have only seen that happen 1 time.

i had a silver shark that jumped out of the tank when i cleaned it...dont now who was more frightend him or me.. i picked him up by using a knife and fork ( slid him onto the fork not stab him) and chucked him back in!! ( sheer shock made me do that  )
matching the temp and keeping things quiet ie, not moving everything out or about at one time ( even if that means doing the maintenece over a few days) should help.. but being prepared for anything is also a good idea  suicide nets round the side of the tanks seems like a great idea to me

if u want to get more fish that you think maybe a little nervous, just ask on here first then some one with exp of them with be able to tell you what you may be in for, least you can be prepared ( from someone who caught a gouramis in a trainer !!!!)

declan.. leave it out mate, think we have all had a gut full of it now!
