I noticed there's a majority of UK folks here, so...who watches DrWHO?
I've been a fan since '85, loved every minute of it. I got my hubby into it, and now my son, who's just about 13, LOVES it- his Doctor is #9; while my first is #5 but I love 5,7,9,10. I loved Time Crash, the Children In Need special. I love everything about the show. Even the silliest of monsters, the Slitheen family. I'm good friends who a drwho writer, who did some of the novels back in the 90s.

Torchwood is weird but it should get good next season. And we adore Sarah Jane Adventures, probably one of the most intelligent kids show on the air. Always loved Sarah Jane, 'bout time she got her own show.

So...anybody?

Dr Who is very good, the last couple of series have been excellent. I think there is an episode on Christmas day or sometime around there- The radio said it is excellent so ill be watching.

I've seen a few of them, I admit I have resisted the new Dr, I use to watch it way back when...I looked and I am ashamed to say who my Dr is:

1. First Doctor, played by William Hartnell (1963–1966)
2. Second Doctor, played by Patrick Troughton (1966–1969)
3. Third Doctor, played by Jon Pertwee (1970–1974)
4. Fourth Doctor, played by Tom Baker (1974–1981)
5. Fifth Doctor, played by Peter Davison (1981–1984)
6. Sixth Doctor, played by Colin Baker (1984–1986)
7. Seventh Doctor, played by Sylvester McCoy (1987–1989)
8. Eighth Doctor, played by Paul McGann (1996)
9. Ninth Doctor, played by Christopher Eccleston (2005)
10. Tenth Doctor, played by David Tennant (2005-Present)

I am in the 3/4 catagory. I could never watch Tristan or Sylvester, it just seemed wrong, they were not Dr Who, they were other people. The new series seems to be pretty good from what I've seen. There was one about a time rip "Father's Day" - where some flying things came in and they were all trapped in a church - that was good, and the little boy in the war "Empty Child".

Today there were Cybermen making a come back - though I don't remember them talking before. The bit when they restored ones memory and she was saying she was cold was really sad :( but I had just watched two episodes of "The Wonder Years" and that always makes me cry anyway so I might have been slightly over emotional at the time

ooh what a great thread, as it gives me a chance to plug my scifi forum
where Dr who and many many more shows are discussed

I am a Yank who is a Who fan. Before the current ones which are now shown on the SciFi channel, it was big in the 80s on the PBS stations. I do believe I have likely seen almost every single episode made since it first started. Tom Baker was my fav doctor. I seem to recall it all started with the Movie Dr Who and the Daleks.

Actually no, DrWho started in 1963 as a kid's show about this old geezer(William Hartnell) and his granddaughter(Carol Ann Ford) who travelled thru time & space to show all sorts os events in earth's history, it was originally intended to be an educational show. There were no hints of the Doctor being alien, two hearts and when it began there was absolutely no clues that he regenerated. That idea was the most brilliant ever, keeping the show going forever! The thing just took off and evolved into the best freakin show on tv. The movie you mention was a 2 movie series with Peter Cushing in the role of the Doctor.

The Christmas special "Voyage of the Damned" is sounding like a great eppie; I can't wait to see it. I'm in the US but we got ways to see the latest stuff. No way I can wait 3-4 mos before stupid SciFi or BBCAmerica airs the stuff, I want it NOW!!

It show's in the U.S.A. to!!!!! I never felt like watching it, as it dosent look to interesting.

It is an oddball show but it's so different, it's fun to see. Just watch an episode if you catch one, it's not some blow em up action show, the Doctor uses his brain and cleverness to solve the issue at hand.

i too have watched DR Who since the first TV episode. and, like many, saw most of it from behind a chair or cushion. i do however consider there to be only Eight Dr's to date. the turgid pap with Mr McGann as the doctor, died the death it so richly deserved, and good riddance i say. imo it kinda lost its way after Peter Davidson, till its spectacular return with the brilliant Christopher Eccleston. Intelligent and, now well made, science fantasy. a rare thing, even now.
i cant wait for the Christmas day show, Roll on, Roll on!

i just watched "The Girl Behind the Fireplace".

At the begining i jumped and spilt my tea all down me :(
