The Windows Key + D is a brilliant key combination that most people don't know about.

Try it, press the Windows Key on the bottom left of your keyboard and combine it with the Letter D, this stands for Desktop, and minimises everything to your task-bar in an instant...! No more risk.

I use this aaaall the time when my parents come into my room for whatever reason. Usually all I'm looking at is this forum, but I do read SomethingAwful.com so it has kinda become a reflex, just incase
I have a "Show Desktop" shortcut on my task bar though, which is a lot less obvious than punching in a key command I think

ALT+F4 closes the open window. So if you maximize like microsoft word and then TFF, if your on TFF you can hit ALT+F4 and it will close, leaving MW on the screen.

I work, but being in programming I'm sure my boss has written something that can spy on what we're doing. He's made some subtle hints that makes me thinks he knows. msn is the worst...when someone pops up with a message that is obviously not work related.

Also the alt tab thing doesnt quite work - they'll know you were doing something you werent sposed to. *sigh*

What I do now if I desperately want to reply to a post is write it in notepad, then copy and paste it!!
