i say yes. as its so fascinating watching them with the babies. how the mother stirs up the substrate to find food for them. and seeing them warning the oscars to stay back is pretty amazing!
I think they are a nice fish, I keep a group of 6 at work in one of our display tanks and they are fun to watch, however I don't think I would keep them at home; at least not in a species only tank.
i have to sAy yes 1because i love all south/central american cichlids and 2 beacause there great fun little cichlids with such alot of spunk and boy do they breed easy there like guppys of the cichlid world...evil is a misunderstanding but if your going to keep a pair of anything your going to exspect a level of aggro beause its fish nature...
i adore convicts for what they are.
they only have such a bad reputation because they breed easily and are available at a cheap price.
a lot of new fish keepers are told from the start DONT get convicts, for a number of reasons this is true.
some find out the hard way and ad this cheap lively fish to a community aquarium
some one once said that they will spawn on a wet sponge which is nearly true they seem to thrive in almost any conditions but just because they can it does not mean they have to.
I voted yes as well. Honestly, when I bought mine I was hoping to see the parental behavior. I went from 4, to 2, to 32 overnight. And they have been making me watch ever since. Bonnie and Clyde, ....Yeah, I couldn't resist the names, are great parents, even though they didn't care much for their tankmates.
