I have a 5 gal tank spair and will be keeping 3 bumblebee goibies in there. Do you keep yours in brackish or freshwater, just outta intrest? My LfS doesnt keep brackish tanks and whne they get them in they'll obviously put them in FW, so i will, dont want to stress them ;)
So ill get a lil filter an dheater for it and set it up when i get back form holiday :D

Id beware of the aggressive nature of BBG's, id possibly look at just getting a male and female. Also be prepared for pre mixing a saltwater solution at the tank temp a day in advance and having the water oxygenated.

You cant just do water changes like a freshwater tank, needs much more preperation, so be ready.

Way before all of this you need to cylce the tank at the SG you plan to keep the fish at, then make sure to match that with the fish water when you buy them so the change in SG doesnt kill them if its way different

They're not particularly fussy about water, so you could always play around between hard feshwater and low salinity until you find the value at which yours do best. There seems to be a complete mixed bag of water conditions from those who keep them, so it's whatever keeps yours happiest that you should stick with.

Ok then cool
My tapwater that i use for my tanks(obviously de-chlorinated) has a pH of 8 so thats perfect :D

i keep mine in a group of 4 in a 5gallon in freshwater, they have done well for a while now, no problems water wise, a few small scraps between them, but when plants and caves are provide, the fight is often harmless and ended in a few seconds.

So long as there are plenty of hiding spaces, 3-5 in a 5 gallon is fine.

As feesh alluded to, brackish or FW is fine. BBG are even found in soft acidic waters. I would say it is more important to offer food that the BBG will accept, like bloodworm and daphnia.

Ive just tried mine on raw prawns, and they went down a treat, aswell as live brine shrimp.

I get live foods for free anyways :p
Well i wont be starting the tank up till i get back form holiday. Sand right? By the time my LFS get them in it will hopefully have cycled :D

Thanks for your help

sand or gravel i dont think it matters, but personally i use sand.
as long as there are plenty of caves and plants it should work out.
feeding is more a problem, live goes down a treat, and your vewry lucky to get it for free! but with frozen, i use a pipet to squirt it near the BBG.
also, maybe add a couple of amano or ghost shrimp to the tank, or even 1-2 apple snails to help clean the tank left overs (may have to feed aswell) and to add a little extra to the tank.
good luck with it all
