Just wondering how some of you set up your planted tanks. I let them fill in myself but it would be fun to buy a bunch at once.

One more question What is your most perfect plant? For me its the eratopteris thalictroides "Watersprite". Looks good grows fast and in just about any tank. LOVE IT. But I am a low tech person. I also love the onion plant that's second place.

by the time the plants have touched the bottom in my tank they are ripped to shreds or when i get it looking nice my clarias rips them up and puts them somewhere else lol plus i need about 2/300 plants for mine lol but i have got a smaller tank which i grow them in and i just plant them all in at once and they grow really quick and well in there its also my fry tank so they like the cover too

I tend to just buy a few and let them grow in, but then I'm running a high light system so inevitably growth is quicker. That and I'm always skint! As for the perfect plant... no idea, any plant can look great when its properly factored into a well worked scape imo.

Gosh, I haven't set up a completely new one in about a year. I usually purchase a lot of stemplants first and then gradually replace the stems with the plants I really want in the scape.

Most perfect plant for me.

definately pack it from the start. You can always prune but waiting for growth can cause problems with algae etc. Also means you can get a jist of where the flow is going.

I ignore all advice though and bang the final plants in there. Not advised for the inexperienced as you will get algae but I manage it so I do it :)
