I know that they can "croak", but i keep hearing this loud, chirping, whistling sort of sound emminating from my tank! At first i thought it was my bubbler, but its not as it still persists if its turned off. So i was wondering, can Sparkling gourami chirp? Because if they can, its the cutest noise ever from a fish :p
If it helps, it sounds kinda like "pew pew pew peeeeeeew" :p

Yes I have always described it as more of a chirp then a croak as its pretty high pitched. There is a link in my sig to a video that has the sound.

They actually sound just like the frogs we have around here in the springtime. Very cool.

I would absolutely do it! My croaking Gouramis (although slightly different) are the pride and joy of my tank. The croaking ones chirp and make a clicking sound. At first I thought it was my filter breaking...nope! Just these crazy little beauties!

I have two sparkling gouramis, but they've never done this...doesn't that mean they aren't happy or don't feel secure?

Mikaila how big do they get ? Will they only chirp if you have males and females ? And do they chirp at night time too ? (Tank in bedroom, lol)

Sparkling Gouramis' chirp is incredibly hard to hear. Also, only males chirp :) if you have sparkling Gouramis that sri around 1.5inches, then you, my dear, have croaking Gouramis! For the longest time I thought I owned sparkling....turns out I has croaking all along! I also never heard any chirping until I bought my second set of croaking Gouramis, and I bought my first male! The croaking gourami makes a very distinguishable clicking sound. Also, it's typically made when they're trying to attract a mate. Fear not, I'm sure your little fellas are very happy in their home :)
