I feel that I feed my fish very often and was wondering if it was too much.

I feed my fish maybe every two hours when I am home (which your allready thinking is too often) but I only feed them very small amounts, as much as is eaten within about 1min, (each fish having about 1 mouthfull). There is never uneaten food left in the tank. Is this ok?

I just like watching them eat!! lol.

If the fish are eating all the food, and there is never any uneaten food in the tank and your fish never suffer from digestive problems like constipation and you are only feeding them very small amounts of food, then it sounds fine to me :good: . Small fish tend to benefit from small but regular meals more than big fish do (which tend to have longer guts and do well on larger but less regular meals etc) anyway.

Yes, feeding them very small amounts are prob better for the fish (depending on the species) as most herbivorous or omnivorous fish will search all day for food in the wild and get little bits here and there. Large carnivores and piscavores should only be fed maybe 2 or 3 times a week, when adults, with a sizeable meal to fill up their guts.

Most people do feed too much and with most people having to work during the day or go to school, often, at most we can only spare time for 2 medium sized meals a day, and even when they try to give them more meals, often, the fish are fed way too much at a time. Fish can be very hardy when it comes to missign meals or lack of food, as it is part of nature sometimes when food is scarce. Even humans can last up to a week to two weeks without solid food if a life or death situation arose, but with our food being so prevalent and easy to get today, we begin to believe that if we don't eat every few hours, then we will waste away....
