If I put fry in a breeding tank below my main tank without light, ie: jusr heater and filter, will they grow?

It would be better if you turned on a light for about 13 hours a day and try not to keep the tank near direct sunlight, it can create an algae bloom that can have you cleaning the tank constantly.

Light helps with growth in most things, I imagine they would grow but not as fast or as well as ones with light would. I once did the same thing with toad tadpoles, the ones in full light were twice the size as the ones in the shade.

YOU ARE 100% correct

When I was doing livebearers I kept them in with the parents, 12-14 hours of light per day. Angel fry get light 24/7 for the first few weeks, this keeps them from resting towards the bottom of the tank where bacteria are.
