do filters have to be dead straight upright or can you slant them slightly, i have a internal filter that has to be fully emmersed but i feel its a bit close to the sand, if i lift it higher its top is out the water, its a hooooooge filter, so was wandering if i could tilt it, would it be just as effective?

I run a Fluval U4 totally horizontal, Literally, was told it would be fine by a experienced source , you could put a lvl on it as it is that flat.. most internal should be fine i would think.
what kind of filter?

its only a cheap one from ebay, all pond solutions Aquarium Internal Submersible Fish Tank Filter Pump 1200L/H thats what it says on the box anyway

Yes it should work. Ive tried it, with a submersible filter and it works fine.

people that have paludariums often do this when there is not enough vertical space in the water......should not be a problem.
