I've been looking into culturing live foods. Are they worth the trouble, have any of you tried anything and had success. Which live food are best and most nutritious?

earth worm grindal worm white worm and micro worm all very good foods easy to culture. 100% safe to feed to fish

I tried earthworms. Too messy as i have to cut them up because my fish are small. I dont like doing that. I'm thinking of trying grindal and white worms. What do u do to keep them cool?

My fish love mosquito larvae which I scoop out of a bucket of water left outside. They love it!

I put a small pre-molded fibreglass wildlife pond in the garden years ago, added plants and a bag of live daphnia. left it alone for a couple of months, and have had a constant supply of daphnia, gnat larva and freshwater shrimps. I think the shrimps must have arrived on the plants.
It's 'still' water so no pumps or fountains but is nice and clear.
There are no fish in the pond just frogs and newts so no problems with disease's.
Every fishkeeper lucky enough to have a garden should have one ;)

My kids go 'fishing' for gnat larvae in the water butt with an old tea strainer; they'll spend ages doing it! I just scoop the lot up in a big net :p
