Do Adding Rules Change When Starting A Shoal?

usually your only suppose to add 1-2 fish at any given time every week or so, right?

but if your adding a group of fish 3+ of the same species are you suppose to buy them at the same time or should you stay with the rules?

(i dont know if thats the real rule, but thats what the petstore said and thats about the only thing that cameout of his mouth that made the slightest bit of sense)

Depends how you plan to cycle your tank...

If you go for the fishless cycle route of 5ppm. Then if you're talking about a shoal of small fish Eg. Tetras, Danios, Guppies etc etc.
Then you could probably get away with adding 5 or so with no real consequences.
