I want to setup a diy co2 pressurised kit. I'm currently using a D&D system, but it's getting rather expensive as you can't refill and have to buy new bottles every month or two.

I've seen posts before with good examples using fire extinguishers but i've searched and can't find them. Anyone got suggestions plus links?

Also, would it be a good idea to have two diffusers , one at each end of my tank (i've got a 260L Juwel)? If so, should you use two bubble counters on each line. Also would you use something like this to split the line

One more thing, do you have to use c02 tubing? I've been using normal tubing from my lfs which wasn't specifically branded for c02 for the past 2 years.

I think you'd need the adapter on the D&D kit so that it can be fitted to refillable bottles.

Do you have an external filter? Rather than having two diffusers, why not look for a reactor that would fit on the hose from the filter.

CO2 tubing is better, the normal silicon tubing leaks over time. It doesnt cost that much to do things properly anyway, just a couple of quid.

Which refillable bottle should i use and which adapter to connect my d&d system to it?

You could place the bubble counter before you split the line. You will also need only one NRV.

I am not sure how popular it is in the UK but paintball co2 canisters seem popular enough that you can find them on ebay for a simple easy to use co2 canister.

I've had my share of DiY pressurised CO2. I've made and used paintball, welding, drinks (as in pub) cylinders, (and a few more less known ones, like greenhouse cyclinders...) in the UK. I've found the cheapest to be paintball, but you need to find a friendly paintball site (or jsut a friend at a site) to refill them. They will usually do it fro 50p a canister. Second in price were pub cylinders (by volume), but you have a HUGE initial outlay (those are big cylinders!)... finally you get to welding cylinders, which are a class of their own as they can be refillable or disposable. Refillables are cheap, disposables are handy....

its all up to you really ;)

p.s. if you need info on how to hook up any, i can get you that.
