As mentioned i would like people who have experience with DIY CO2 to give me there advice on this matter. If you havnt done/tried it please refrain from posting, theres nothing worse than someone who chats along with the flow on the basis of assumption. Now my foots down i'll ask away.

Righto, so i've gone down the DIY CO2 route and i've ordered everything i need except the regulator/solenoid. The more i read into it the more confused and unsure i get. Has anyone got any recommendations as to what will be cheap (ie <£30 ish) and fit a standard 2kg FE. I understand i just need a regulator but theres so many to chose from and the price varies so much. I've followed Themuleous thread both on here and UKAPS and i'm spinning in circles. Now i heard mention of solenoids and i havnt a clue what they do or if it comes with or is separate to a regulator. HELP!

I've heard contrasting views on getting an aquatic regulator to that of a normal one :) but i think i'll just settle with a regulator as it seems most people do, including those with experience such as Themuleous :)

Any input, or links to regulators that would work would be much appreciated. I feel like i'm circling the drain on this matter.

i have never used diy fe c02, so i can't comment in this thread. However i know what and use a solenoid...so really this thread has nothing to do with diy fe c02 really, thinking in the planted section that thing go on assumption is wrong.

That literally made no sense to me reading that back - huh?

I want people who have used a fire extinguisher before to assist on the choice of regulator/solenoid, as the fittings obviously needs to be good or it becomes dangerous - so it has everything to do with DIY FE CO2.

i agree this should be in DIY - I was looking in there for threads of exactly this nature.

Solenoids are an electronic switch, connected after the regulator, that when attached to a timer will switch the gas on/off. They can be purchased separately or with a regulator.

Fe have the standard 22mm external thread so all co2 regulators will fit, you just need to make sure they have 4/6mm output for co2 tubing.

edit : altered some spelling changes made by phone spell check.

Thank you, thats what i needed to hear confirmation of.
