The sticky at the top of this forums describes using a mixture of yeast, sugar, and baking soda. However, nowhere in the article does it say what proportions of these ingredients to use. Any recipes out there by chance?

Also wondering if flour mixed into water would work as well, or marble chips (calcium carbonate) mixed with a dilute HCl solution?

2 cups sugar, I don't add the baking soda because I already have hard water and 1/4 teaspoon -1 teaspoon yeast depending on how many bubbles you want.

Ahh thank you!

That must be in a large container. How large is your aquarium?

And one more thing, just out of curiosity, how much water do you add to that?

the general formulae is:

2 cups of sugar (220ml)
1 tablespooon yeast - can be vaeied (more yest = more co2)
fill bottle with 3/4 of lukewarm water (around 24 - 30C)

Thank you. I am assuming this is mixed into a gallon of water?

I also have a very soft water supply, so any ideas how much baking soda to use?

This is mixed in a 2 ltr bottle, not a gallon bucket. Just pour your sugar into a bottle, add water to fill 3/4 full, shake well, add yeast and shake again. Cap and ready to go.
