snowflake311: I havn't use this setup before, behind the 2 new c02 bottles is an old one i setup 3 days ago. The plants have been grown for 2 weeks without c02, just dosing seachem equilibrium and potassium photsphate with eco complete substrate with a layer of peat. IM hoping for much faster growth with my new c02 unit. I wont be setting it up until the first bottle runs out though so i can get an idea of the time it will last.
MrWhite: 2 x 2L bottles, a nail to make the hole for the airtube, but you can use a drill or whatever, just make sure its as tight as possible.
Put the tube about 3cm into the bottle, then silicone the inside and outside of the lid to ensure its airtight. The bottles were primered with Tamiya car model primer and then sprayed with car black matte paint, masking taped off at the top so i can see the fill line. Then connect the 2 air tubes to a t connector and then connect that to the tank, either to a diffuser or (like myself) the oxygen input thing on the pump, which then sucks the carbon in and slices it into little bubbles before dispersing it into the tank.
The mixture i have in the first bottle is 2 cups of sugar (460ml, / 32 table spoons), 1/2 teaspoon of yeast and 1/2 teaspoon of baking soda (not nesecary but helps the mixture last a bit longer) Then add water and leave about 3" gap at the top. I use tank water as apparently the yeast can feed of the ammonia in the water...or something... dno the truth of this but its better anyway because warm water starts the process quicker. Seems to have worked well for me.
You then just put a normal lid on, shake it up, then connect the air pipe lid. It should start creating co2 bubbles in an hour or so and should last for 2 or 3 weeks, but i cannot confirm that yet.
Good luck.
