Divide the Buy Sell swap boards based on location.. I live in the US and i find that i run into a lot of UK stuff.. I think it would be better for us to have something where you find something close enough to you that you may be able to pick it up or know that it can be shipped. Non-Worldwide.. Sounds like a good idea..

why stop at us/uk?
why not divide it further us/canad/uk/malaysia/australia etc
can you see where this is going?

it would be infeasable to do and not pratical to manage
the simplist solution is to state in your title where in the world you are
like "external cannister for sale UK"

If you look in the pinned topics in the Buy/Sell forum you'll find Will's suggestion to do just as Wolf said: put your country in the subject heading. That makes it easy.. you only browse through those things in your area. :D

and if people can't be bothered to read the pinned topic that says "Read this before posting", they probably won't be bothered to make certain they post their ad in the right subforum...

It doesn't because a lot of people don't do that.
And since its most US and Brits I think it'd be fine, the couple other people probably aren't selling/buying anything anyways.

do you realize how many non-brits and non-americans use this forum too?

*bites tongue and walks away*

But the Canadians could just use the American one - If they wanted too.
I haven't been "seriously" on since before Christmas, but I know before that 9/10 were either really close to the US, or really close to the UK.
I have yet to see anyone form say, Africa, Greenland, ect.
I know of:
1 person from Sweden.
1 person from India.
1 person from Guat.
(But I doubt they're going to trade/buy anything anyways)
Other than that, everyone either lives in England or the North Americas (US and Canada).

really, Ethos, you know better.
What do I know better of?

Actually there are quite a lot of Canadians on here there are also a lot of Australians on here too. We also have users scattered all over Europe especially Scandanavia, with members in Finland, Denmark, Norway, Sweden also quite a few in Asia.

I can't beleive that I'm saying this but ... I agree with Wolf, if people just put in the subheading where in the world they are eg I could put Chesterfield, Derbyshire, UK we would all know. This instruction is in the pinned topic and rather than add more and more sections that need to be watched over, if members can't follow instructions, I think their posts should just be closed until they learn how to post properly and follow simple instructions.

There's other continents besides America and England? I never knew? Please tell me about these places. Have they just been discovered?

All this time i though the earth was made up of 80% water, 10% America and 10% England......hmmmmm, i need to update my Atlas.

(btw this was not directed at anyone from the United Kingdom or the US......maybe except Ethos.)

Regardless of all the normal jingoistic posturing - a few things are clear

1. People don't always include their location in the title, when scrolling the list you have to go into the posts to see if their location is in their profile information. Personally I think this keeps the lazy from using the buy sell swap more

2. It isn't really that difficult to have seperate sections with modern message board software, I'm pretty sure I've seen collapsable sections with little +/- icons on IPB powered sites before. This allows multiple collapsed locations without using much space.

As a regular user of the buy sell swap area, anything that helps me go directly to relevant posts would be a benefit

Anyone whos even just operated a small forum knows how simple it it.
But I think theres other factors.
It doesn't need to be Moderated.
So why not have a North America and a Europe/Asia.
But how many people from Asia actually use the buy sell and swap?

I agree with Arfie, if you cant follow instructions then your post should be closed until you learn how to.
