Looks like 2 of my Green Terrors are pairing off already...and lukily i have a buyer on stand by for my other 2 :)

My 2 silver Saums constantly rub and flick at eachother and never leave eachothers side...colouring up and biting the Gold Saums fins.

Anyway...its a 100g tank....current tank mates are a clown loach, bristlenose and i also have a Texas cichlid,Convict and 4 yellow labs in there which im planning to rehome later on.

Will Silver Dollars be ok? what other dithers could i use? i have looked at Giant Danios but i think they look ugly!

I did not have dithers back when I had my green terrors because once they paired off, they tried to murder everything.. even the plecos.

Have you actually seen the giant danios is person in a large tank? They do look very nice! *poke*

Actually no...not seen them in real life or in any LFS ever! ... I have seen the standard ones and i hate em! (pearls, zebras and those leopard hybrid things)

I'm thinking the Silver Dollar idea is a bad one actually anyway because i want a planted tank....and the idea to have a pair was for wet pet purposes.

I was kinda hoping i would get a Gold x Silver Saum pair because it will look interesting long term (i have 2 gold saums and 2 silver saums).

With a breeding pair, as mentioned, not really a good idea, they will defend aggressively the entire tank. Also remember, once they breed, you will soon have lots of wrigglers around, filling the tank up, which Im sure you already know, will need to be removed to another tank to grow out, before the parents breed again, or they will see the 1st batch as potential threats to the new fry.

Yeh like i said in teh beggining (dunno if yo usaw it) that i have a breeding tank set up underneath my main tank.

I have never successfully bred anything beofre tho...so this is exciting to me :)

I have had guppys have babys....Siamese fighters build bubble nests,Mbuna mouth brood but never intervened.....i have never bred a SA or CA Cichlid befor...so this is gonna be great :)

Can't stand those either, but a large school of Giants or Malabars is lurvely. Mine grew to 4-6 inches within 6 months of buying at under 1 inch and they look quite amazing when the blues and yellows are brought out by good food and water quality. So if you ever have a community tank which is large enough, do give them a thought. My new LFS had an 8x2x2ft with about 100 in, which looks very stunning.

My terrors destroyed everything in their redecoration apart from thai onions.. out of the rest, my ex-prized anubias and java fern did best.

As for "pet", definitely! Mine used to spit stones at the glass when he wanted some attention from me.. my father-in-law also used to have long fighting for territory matches with it (with one of them on each side of the glass) which used to last for hours on end.. but for me, the pair would come and hand feed, playing with my hands and rubbing against them.
