a few months ago i had lots of snails appearing in my tank so i opted to buy some loaches to sort the problem, but about a month that 1 seemed to of dissapeared, thought this was strange but didn't think to much into it. Afew days ago i noticed another was nowhere to be seen, so i gave it a w/c but still couldn't find him, i realise he is no longer with us but a) where has he gone, surely it would decompose over night and b) whats causing this ? My waters stats are fine and all other fish are doing fine !!

cheers

Haha loaches are the masters of Hide and Seek :p. I had a clown loach that disapeard for about 2 months and then suddenly came back, was wierd. Id keep your hopes up that it is alive :good:

They are very good at hiding, especially in small places. Check inside of decorations, under things, sometimes they'll bury themselves in gravel, under fake plants, in filter intakes, etc.

When I was moving, I was taking down the tank. I had a b.striata that evaded notice hiding inside a piece of driftwood. He'd wedged himself up inside it. He stayed outside of the tank for at least an hour, but stayed wet in/under the log, and was fine.

ok thanks all, i'll keep my hopes up then and hopefully he'll pop out some time soon !!
