Hi,

I just bought an iridescent shark from my local Petco and it's swimming very strange. I haven't put it the tank yet (it's still in the bag) because I don't want to to infect my other fish if it is diseased. It's swimming very loopily and sometimes lying still with it standing vertical and it's belly facin up. Yet it's still moving around in a really weird way. A couple of the other iridescent sharks at the store were doing that too. Is this a normal behavior for one or is it sick?

Please let me know wether I should put it in my tank or not because I'm worried.

Thanks a bunch,

Aaron

How big is your tank? They grow to unbelievable lengths.

I would not put them in tanks under a 100 gallons. Even then, that's only temporary.

There's a warning in the cats section about fish that you shouldn't get. I suggest you check it out.

i was just about to ask the same thing..

if this if for your 29g... i would leave him in the bag and take him back to the lfs..

these fish need to be in schools and grow upto a metre in length..also require brackish water as they mature..

should not even be on sale in a lfs in my opinion

heres what he should grow into...sadly many dont because they are not kept in the right conditions

Looks like he didn't make it - glad you hadn't put him in the tank yet. Sorry that he died but looks like others here thought he wasn't such a good idea in the first place.
