I have 37 gallon cycling.

Next sumer I have decided to make 125 gallon Discus Tank.

However, very impatient when it comes to discus, I want them now.

I was gonna go with Angelfish in my 37 gallon, but I really want discus.

Is this enough room or should i just wait? :(

Yea I am. I have doing my research. Especially since i was to purchase 125 gallon set up for them, but just wondered about smaller set up.

Research can only take you so far, the experience of actually keeping them should be beneficial. Do you agree?

its enough room but dont breed them, 37g wont hold 600 babies.
Sounds like a good problem :D

Will they have to be only thing in tank? or can small schooling group be added?

Cardinals or Noses?

Or some Rams

I agree. Discus are not difficult at all to keep but they are time consuming. However I think u should buy adult discus if you are going to put them into a planted 125g. Im assuming u are gonna have a planted 125. Most dicus keepers grow them out in a bare bottom tank. It is easier to clean bare bottom tanks. IF u buy adult discus it will save u lots of time because it will not require u to do daily water changes. But clean water is still a MUST HAVE.

You could put sum Cardinals in there because they dont mind the high temps. U dont have to worry about breeding discus unless u buy the adults now for ur 37g. Some discus takes up to 2 years to sexually mature. Others may take 8-12 months. Is ur 37g a barebottom tank?

It is not bare bottom. I do have some medium to large gravel in the bottom. However, I have not added anything else.

Should I?

When i just started keeping discus i changed my mind at the last minute and added substrate. I started with juveniles. One day during that month i got a ammonia spike and almost lost 2 of them so i took out all of the substrate n never had a problem since. Adults have a stronger immune system but that doesnt mean they are "hmm wat word should i use here" invicible. They can just take more than juvy's can.

Well I change twice a week on my 75 gallon now, so doing more is not problem. Temp 82 f to 84f.

I was thinking frozen blood worms. I have also read about beef heart?

good, u will have less problems now. How often are u changing ur water, wat will ur temp be, n wat are u gonna feed it? However, I have not added anything else.

I did not understand this statement, "should u add wat?"
I was saying right now tank only has gravel and nothing else. Should I add wood or something?

Blood worms n beefheart is great. Also think about adding frozen brine shrimp cuz thats also very good for them. N u should feed Color bits to them n tetramin flakes. I feed my discus all of the items listed above n they are really growing like weeds. 84f is good for temp. N for the water change i think u should do well with 3 w/c's a week. 4 if u like but 3 is usually fine. How many times are u gonna feed them per day? This may affect the amount of w/c's u do. I feed my juvy's 4x's a day so they give off lots of waiste so i do daily 75% w/c's.
