Discus

How long has ur tank been up? Driftwood will be nice my opinion but that is up 2 u. Whatever u decide to do make sure they have sumthin to hide behind for ex. plants , wood , w/e u prefer most.

I was thinking 3 times a day.

Some type of dry food in the morning. 7am (before I leave for work)

Again at 5, then right b4 lights out (10? OR SO)

TELL ME MORE! Its good to have someone online and not have to wait for responses.

So just gravel or should I add wood and plants. I dont mind either way.

And will adding cardinals or other schooling fish be too much for 37 gallon. How many do you recommend?

Driftwood is nice in my preference. I have 3 peices in my tank that have been in there for 4 months n is still drifting. Real or fake plants would be nice also. your substrate is fine. As for stocking wat type of filteration will u have running? u could get 3 adult discus n with the remaining space add cardinals.

I have emperor 280 and Rena Xp3 on the tank.

I am worried bout water movement, however I have emperor at lowest setting. I also have the spray bar of cannister facing the back of aquarium, so that the stream of water does not go diractlyin to the body of water.

your ph is probably slightly more acidic. Got to love that richmond water  . Mine in the west end comes out around 6.7.

Yea i think i will test my tap and tank water shortly.

Fellow Richmond resident, I think we are only 2, some close but not in Richmond.

when you do make this discus tank you should make it bare bottum beacuse discus are not real hardy fish they will get sick easlly so keep the bottum of the tank real clean i know this cuz i was working with a discus breeder and he told me how to do it so i hope you have good luck with the breeding of your fish or if you are planning on breeding. and that is my word on your tank.

He said he is getting adult disus n adults should do fine in planted tanks. Its juvy's that should not go into planted tanks.

You can keep cardinals with them, even though your aquarium is borderline for Discus.

Cardinals impact on the bioload is nelgigable when considering the level of maintenance you have to keep up with discus.
