Discus

HI guys ive seen sum discus in my lfs for £12.99 each wich i know is cheap but there is nothing wrong with the as all fish he quarantine every fish he sells for 4weeks but the question is are they ok to go in my tank and of with the fish.
tank size:80cm long, 35cm wide and 70cm high volume is 125ltr with a filter for 150ltr+.
fish as follows

8Cardinal Tetras
1Male Fighter
3Female Fighters
4German Blue Rams
1Bristlenose Pleco
5Platies

The PH is spot on at 7.0 temp is fine 28deg c.
I have heard they are realy difficult to keep but then other people say the not that hard as long as you keep up with tank cleans.
Please tell me as much info as you can about them please like size temp such as that

Your tank is perfect tank mate wise except for the fighters idk how they will get along because they are a bit territorial and could be aggressive but every other tank mate sounds good. They do require a lot of space and is a must to be kept in groups for security and their very timid nature my ph was at 6.5 and the temperature they like warmer around 82 degrees. They do best in planted tank setups. As for your tank size i wouldnt really go with them for the fact they need to be in groups.

I would say the tank is too small to keep the 5 discus with thoes tank mates. You should keep 5 or more discus unless a proven pair. 4 might work but 3 is the worst number because 98% of the time the odd man out will get killed or picked on till he can't eat.

If you got a 55 gal or bigger it could work.

how small are they for that price as said really you need a bigger tank because you will never get a breeding pair at that small (12.99 in a fish shop they must be fry)

When I got some of mine I got 2" body size for £7.50 then they went up to £10each then I got some others like the purple emperor for £30 3.5"

@ash90, just realize that discus are pretty hard to take care of. small changes in the water can be very dangerous.
